If your internet is down, or you’re travelling/away from internet access, you should prepare for this by taking screenshots of the notes and resources in your Lesson Portal, and downloading any videos you may need whilst away.
Use Your Phone's Cellular Data
If your home internet cuts out without warning, your next option is to use your phone’s cellular data to access the internet.
If you're using a tablet or smartphone to access the Virtual Piano Academy website, you can use your phone's cellular data (Vodafone, Telstra, Optus data) by turning off the connect to wifi function (see below).
You will want to turn the wifi option OFF (at the moment, the green toggle button indicates that it's ON, and connected to your home wifi. If your home wifi is having issues, turning this OFF will force your phone to connect to the internet using your phone's cellular data. Please note, that by doing this, you will be using your phone's data, which will vary in speed and download limits depending on your plan. But this is a great option for temporary access to Virtual Piano Academy, or if you're out-and-about, and away from home.
If you're away (on holidays etc), try connecting to the Virtual Piano Academy website using public wifi, or the wifi provided by your hotel. You can often connect to wifi in a public library or cafe too. This should be enough to enable you to load up the material in your Lesson Portal, and take screenshots or make necessary notes about what you need to practice.
If you've accessed Virtual Piano Academy using a public computer (like at an internet cafe...or even at a friends' house), make sure you close your session and LOG OUT of Virtual Piano Academy before leaving. We don't want a random person to then jump onto that computer and have your login details there ready to go! This could put the Virtual Piano Academy website at risk of a cyber-attack. If we trace the attack back to your login, you will be liable for damages.
What Happens If I Think My Account Has Been Hacked?
If you suspect there has been a breach of privacy (or your Virtual Piano Academy account has been hacked), please let us know ASAP, so we can rectify the situation before any loss of your data takes place.
If your Lesson Portal material is wiped or altered because of a breach of security or cyber-attack, Virtual Piano Academy assumes no responsibility for your loss of resources, videos, lesson notes etc, and will not provide you with copies of lost material. Please make your own backups of any material you can't live without.
Portable Dongle Option
If your internet is going to be down indefinitely, you may need to consider getting a dongle to access your lessons.
Can I be part of Virtual Piano Academy if I don't have internet?
If you don't have regular access to the internet at home (or wherever you'll be practicing), unfortunately, you won't be able to be a part of Virtual Piano Academy, as internet access is a crucial part of being able to participate in virtual online lessons.
Missed Lessons Due to Internet Issues
You will not receive any refunds for missed practice (or a missed Weekly Showcase video) because you couldn't access the internet. Being part of a digital piano academy assumes you will be able to connect to the Virtual Piano Academy website and have regular access to the internet.
This is wholly your responsibility to sort out and Virtual Piano Academy assumes no responsibility for your loss of lessons or practice if you fail to connect to the internet.
